On 8 May it was World Red Cross Day. Here’s how three Cipla initiatives strive to support the Red Cross in their aim to alleviate human suffering and uphold human dignity.
You too can get involved in doing your bit for the community by getting involved in one of these four projects of the Cipla Foundation. The Foundation’s focus in on bringing about meaningful transformation to the benefit of all, ensuring sustainable development, and having a positive impact on various societies by means of projects that benefit historically disadvantaged sectors of the South African society.
Here’s more about these three projects.
Owethu is a project aimed at improving healthcare in rural communities by running clinics serving 15 – 20 farms each, and which have the capacity to serve 3000 patients every month. Providing access to an equal standard of Healthcare, regardless of income.

First encounter: Help pay for a child’s first month’s consultation fee
Keeps it running: funds raised go towards clinic running costs such as medical staff salaries, medical and consumable supplies
See another Year: Sponsor a child’s health and ensure that he or she receives a year’s worth of free medical and dental services

Bag a Smile: Kit out a child on a mission with a goodie bag of the essentials such as Washing cloth, Soap and Mirror and nice-to-haves such as a Small soft toy, Colouring book and crayons
Train the trainer: Training a participant on one of the many courses on offer such as Basic Life Support
On a mission: Accommodating and feeding a child’s guardian during a mission
Change a life: This will help a child through a 45min Cleft lip or Cleft palate Surgery
